PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering is a four year professional undergraduate program which is focused on producing quality engineers capable of applying knowledge in electronics to facilitate communication and solve engineering problems. The main objectives of the B.Tech. (ECE) program is to produce engineers who are well prepared for Indian industry with necessary core competency to be successful in engineering/entrepreneurship careers and to be well prepared to undertake PG studies and research careers. The curriculum is designed in a way to enable the students to have a strong foundation as well as exposure to emerging trends in the industry. The theoretical knowledge is further strengthened by practical classes in different laboratories where students implement what they have learned in theory classes. In addition, Lectures are also delivered by experts from various other institutes/universities through the e-learning network as well as in the form of workshops and seminars. The students are encouraged to undertake real-time projects and actively participate in in-house training programs as well as technical conferences and workshops.
COURSE OUTLINE
As a discipline, the courses of Electronics & Communication Engineering are based on design, analysis & application of electronics & communication circuits. Our curriculum is directed to applications in major areas such as electronics sectors, communication systems while encouraging development of necessary skills for integration of hardware and software components. In tune with the above objective, the program includes different core subjects like Digital Electronics, VLSI Design, Communication Engineering, Digital signal processing, Microprocessor & Interfacing, Microwave and Radar Engineering, Wireless & Mobile Communication, Optical Communication etc. The core program is supplemented and further reinforced by a well-chosen set of elective courses like Embedded system & design, Nanotechnology, Neural networks & fuzzy logic, Wireless sensor Networks, Mechatronics, Image processing etc. Allowing the students to specialize in particular area of their own interest. The curriculum also includes some interdisciplinary subjects like mathematics and Business Management to enable the students to be capable of solving real time problems and gain necessary entrepreneur skills.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
An Electronics and communication Engineer can join a core electronics or telecom companies like Toshiba, Deloitte, IBM, Ericsson Global, CISCO, Maruti-Suzuki, Samsung R&D, Freescale, Philips Electronics, Mahindra & Mahindra, Micromax, L & T, Broadcom etc. as well as software companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Mahindra Satyam, etc. Also, one can appear for government companies like DRDO, ISRO, BEL, etc. One can go for higher education like M.tech. or Ph.D. and get involved in various research labs like CSIR, NPL, INST etc. After completing B.Tech, One can get into MS + PhD courses abroad also and chances are very high that he/she will end up doing something meaningful in the area of electronics & communication. An Electronics & communication Engineer is capable enough to start its own manufacturing unit related to electronics products like LED bulbs, solar lights, solar fans etc. and become a successful entrepreneur.
