Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebration
For a nation, unity and co-operation are essential requisites
PDM University celebrated the 142nd birth anniversary of the iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with great enthusiasm on 31st October 2017, as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at old admin block, PDMU campus from 10:30 am onwards. The special invitees of the event were Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor PDM University, Prof. Dr. A.K. Bakshi a Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, PDMU, Prof. Dr. R.C. Bhattacharjee. The Deans of various faculties under PDM University, faculty members and students gathered to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The dais was graced by Hon’ble Prof. Dr. A.K. Bakshi Vice-Chancellor, PDMU, Hon’ble Prof. Dr. R.C. Bhattacharjee, Pro Vice-Chancellor, PDMU and Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and DSW, Prof. Dr. Hema Chaudhary. The event started with presenting floral bouquets to the dignitaries.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, PDMU Prof. Dr. A.K. Bakshi addressed the gathering by stating that, the role of Sardar Patel in the independence of India was monumental, as when the British were dividing the country on religious grounds, Sardar Patel was the man who took upon himself the responsibility of unification of the princely states, in which he finally succeeded which gave him the title “Iron Man” for his strong decisions and will to execute. He also made a mention of Sardar Patel’s move to remodel the Indian civil services as the IPS and IAS services which played a crucial role in development of modern India. He praised the valuable contributions made by the Sardar Patel and remembered him as an inspiration to all the citizens of the country.
The tribute was paid by the dignitaries as they unveiled the photo of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and presented the flower garland in his honor.
As the motive of organizing the event was to spark the feeling of unity and patriotism among the students, all the Deans and faculty members along with the students took the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge highlighting the role of a citizen in ensuring the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
The vote of thanks was given by Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and DSW, Prof. Dr. Hema Chaudhary and the event was concluded by reciting the National Anthem.
The highlight of the event was the Run for Unity as all the faculty members along with the students enthusiastically participated in the run as they took the run in the whole PDM campus. On completing the run, the participated students were distributed refreshments.
